So What ARE Macros?

The Basics:

So you’ve heard about macros but you’re not sure what they are or how it all works?

Macronutrients, or "macros" are what make up the caloric content of a food. The three categories of macronutrients are carbohydrates, fat, and protein. The caloric combination of macros is where that mysterious total number of calories comes from and here's the breakdown:

1 gram of carbohydrates = 4 calories

1 gram of fat = 9 calories

1 gram of protein = 4 calories

It is not necessarily how many calories you eat, but actually the break down of the calories you are eating. Even if you set a strict calorie limit and stick to it, you could be eating the wrong ratios and this can leave you feeling frustrated with your nutrition and your body not functioning properly.

Here’s where I can help.

The biggest mistakes I see my clients making when they start with me are:

  • Not eating enough calories (period)

  • Overeating one macro (usually carbs)

  • Under eating one macro (usually protein)

  • They have completely removed a macro from their diet (fad diets)

Your body needs all three macros to function and as your coach I will provide you with the number you need based on your body, your fitness level and your goals.

I started my program The Macro Movement to help people just like you finally take control of their nutrition and fitness goals. I myself struggled for years to find a program that worked and was sustainable and it wasn't until I learned how to track my macros that I was finally free from the ups and downs of fad diets. 

The Program: 

My program is simple, I will teach you the art of flexible dieting or IIFYM (if it fits your macros). In this program we will just track just the three macronutrients according to what your body needs. This is not like other fad diets that eliminate food groups or have you watch other intakes we literally only track fat, carbs and protein! And the best part, you will be able to eat all your favorite foods, I promise!

What To Expect:

  • If you follow my plan most clients can expect to see 2-5% body fat loss and 5-12lbs loss in ~6-8 weeks. 

  • You will need to take time to plan your food ahead of time, meal prep, and give up most all eating out and alcohol for the first 6 weeks.
